About Lizzie

Bio ~ In the Media

Lizzie PostLizzie Post is Emily Post’s great-great-granddaughter and the author of How Do You Work This Life Thing? Advice for the Newly Independent on Roommates, Jobs, Sex, and Everything That Counts (April 2007; $19.99; Collins).

Inspired by Lizzie’s own experiences as a college student at the University of Vermont, How Do You Work This Life Thing? is a real-life guide to manners for young people living on their own for the first time—written by a 24-year old woman who has been there. Lizzie uses stories of mishaps from her own life, and the lives of her friends, to show the 18-25 year-old crowd the importance of etiquette in building good relationships with bosses, landlords, roommates, neighbors, and significant others. As Lizzie points out, communication, compromise, and commitment are the key ingredients in making these relationships work, and that etiquette is truly about building relationships and improving your life, not about which fork you use.

Lizzie Post is the first person in her generation of the Post family to write a book on etiquette. She holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Art Education and spent her final year in college balancing painting, studying, traveling and writing How Do You Work This Life Thing? Lizzie has surfed in Costa Rica, explored Europe, and lived in southern California while editing her book. She currently lives in her native Vermont where she paints, writes, and works for the Emily Post Institute.
